New Attribute Conditions: Shorter than & Longer than

We’ve added two new operations to the Attribute conditions feature: Shorter than and Longer than. These allow you to evaluate whether the length of an attribute’s value is shorter or longer than a specified number of characters.

Use these new conditions to create more precise logic when matching message attributes or conversation variables based on string length.

New operations available:

  • SHORTER_THAN – Matches if the value's length is less than the defined number

  • LONGER_THAN – Matches if the value's length is greater than the defined number

Attribute conditions can be configured as part of a routing rule, specifically in the Inbound section of the rule. This allows you to control how messages are routed based on specific criteria found in the inbound message or related conversation variables.

Where this is useful:
For example, if a target system only accepts a ticket description or other text field (like resolution notes or comments) up to a certain length, you can now configure a rule to check the length of that attribute before it’s forwarded. This helps prevent issues where overly long values could cause errors or be rejected by the target system.

These additions give you even more flexibility when defining message routing logic within your integrations.

You can read more about the other available attribute conditions and how routing logic works in the routing rule article.
