New Feature: Seek-to-time in Message Feed

We’re excited to introduce Seek to time - a new enhancement to the Messages view that makes troubleshooting and historical analysis significantly faster and easier.

What’s new?

You can now jump directly to a specific date and time in the message feed - without manually scrolling through large volumes of messages.

This is especially helpful when:

  • Investigating incidents during a known time window

  • Validating message flow after deployments or configuration changes

  • Troubleshooting integration errors

  • Reviewing activity during maintenance windows

How it works

  1. Open Seek to time in the Messages view.

  2. Enter a date, time, or both.

    • Date only → jumps to the start of that day (00:00)

    • Time only → jumps to today at that time

    • Date + time → jumps to the exact moment

  3. Confirm your selection.

The message feed will navigate to the selected point in time and automatically load surrounding messages.

Clear visual context with Time Indicator

After seeking to a time, a time indicator line appears in the feed:

  • Messages above the line are newer

  • Messages below the line are older

This makes it easy to understand exactly where you are in the timeline while continuing your investigation.

The indicator remains visible even if you apply filters.

Shareable links

The selected timestamp is reflected in the page URL.
This allows you to share a direct link to that exact point in time with colleagues, making collaboration during troubleshooting much smoother.

Resetting the view

  • Clearing the Seek to time input returns you to the current time

  • Clicking Scroll to top also clears the selected time

  • When active, the Seek to time button is visually highlighted

  • Hi! This is really nice, however, what could also be useful is if there would be ability to sort from oldest Messages. In case of bigger integrations, this is really troublesome because of the infinite scroll and default sort order.

  • Hi! Thanks for the feedback - that’s a very good point.

One challenge with sorting from oldest is that in many subscriptions, the “oldest” message could be several years back. Loading the full history from that end would be technically tricky and potentially heavy, due to the infinite scroll design.

To better understand your need: are you thinking about sorting after applying a filter (for example, filtering by a specific rule and then viewing those results from oldest to newest)? That would be a more targeted scenario.

Happy to hear more about your use case — it really helps us evaluate the best way forward.

  • Yup! In a scenario that I need to search for an oldest message meeting a certain criteria.

  • Thanks for clarifying. That makes perfect sense.

We’ll write this down as a concrete improvement idea (sorting filtered results from oldest to newest) and revisit it when the next iteration of message feed filtering enhancements comes up.

Appreciate you taking the time to share the use case. It’s very helpful for shaping the roadmap.
